CPM suffers multiple blows in Kerala

KOCHI: In a day of huge setbacks for Kerala's CPM on the legal front, MLA TV Rajesh surrendered before the Kannur court after his anticipatory bail plea in the Shukoor murder case was dismissed by the Kerala high court earlier in the day. Rajesh has been remanded till August 27, and sent to the Kannur central jail. The HC dismissed CPM senior leader P Jayarajan's bail petition. Jayarajan, the Kannur district secretary and CPM state secretariat member from Kannur, was arrested in the case earlier. Dismissing the bail petition of the two leaders the high court held that there was widespread violence in the state-wide hartal called by CPM to protest against the arrest of P Jayarajan.

Indian Union Muslim League worker Abdul Shukoor was killed allegedly by CPM workers, after IUML activists allegedly attacked Jayarajan and Rajesh.

In another blow to CPM, the special investigation team of the state police submitted its chargesheet in the TP Chandrashekharan murder case in the Vadagara court. Several CPM district and local level functionaries were listed as accused in the chargesheet. CPM state committee member KK Ragesh is one of the accused. There are 76 people named in the chargesheet.

MC Anoop, leader of the 7-member group that killed the Revolutionary Marxist Party leader TP Chandrashekharan, is the first accused in the case. Kirmani Manoj, Kodi Suni, Rajeesh, Mohammed Shafi, Sijith and Shinoj are the other members of the group that killed Chandrashekharan.

The police team submitted its report on MM Mani, CPM former Idukki secretary is the second accused in the Ancheri Baby murder case. Youth Congress leader Ancheri Baby's murder is being reinvestigated after Mani disclosed during a public speech at Thodupuza that his party has eliminated political opponents.
