CPM should stop opposing Congress: KPCC president VM Sudheeran
KOCHI: The Congress leadership in Kerala has come out openly against the proposed move by CPM to tie up with Congress in West Bengal. Speaking at a function at Thiruvananthapuram, KPCC president VM Sudheeran said that the CPM should first discard its policy of blind opposition to Congress. There are many in CPM who have this outlook, he said.

Sudheeran said that there is no use in organising a party plenum without getting out of this mindset. Speaking at the 131 foundation day of the Congress, he said the Congress men in the state should set aside their differences and work to ensure the continuity of the United Democratic Front (UDF) rule in Kerala.

Senior Congress leader and KPCC vice-president MM Hassan said that the CPM's move to come back to power in West Bengal through such tie-ups is nothing but opportunism.

The leaders were reacting to the reports that the CPM is likely to tie up with Congress to keep Trinamool Congress out of power in West Bengal. CPM is expected to start discussions with Congress after the party plenum that is currently going on at Kolkata.
