CPM 'shocked' at govt inaction on intelligence

NEW DELHI: Expressing shock and condemning the pre-dawn terrorist attack on the CRPF camp in Rampur, the CPM on Tuesday questioned the Centre’s inaction on prior warnings in intelligence reports.

“It is shocking that such an attack could take place on a central paramilitary force institution in the heart of the country. It is also worrying that the attack has taken place despite prior intelligence alert of the possibility of such a terrorist strike in the area,” a statement issued by the CPM politbureau said here .

Echoing the BJP sentiments, the CPM asked for no effort to be spared to ”uncover” the “terrorist nextwork operating in the country”.

The Left said the earlier bomb blasts in the state—in court complexes in Lucknow, Varanasi and Faizabad—and Tuesday’s predawn attack in Rampur should make both the central and state governments review their intelligence and security systems.
