CPI(M) youth wing members block Trinamool Congress MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar's car

KOLKATA: Trinamool Congress MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar's car was today blocked by DYFI activists at Barasat in North 24 Parganas district when she was passing by the area, police said.

Workers of DYFI, the youth wing of the CPI(M), ha launched a sit-in protest there over the 'poor performance' by the Mamata Banerjee government.

When Barasat MP Ghosh Dastidar's car was passing by the area, policemen present there tried to push away the crowd and make way for it.

However, a few of the DYFI activists banged the car with the sticks of their flags, police said.

The situation was brought under control as policemen removed them and let the MP's car go.

Later, Ghosh Dastidar alleged that when the DYFI supporters saw her car they started shouting slogans and abused the chief minister. When she protested, they turned on her car and beat on it with their sticks.

"Let them do whatever they want. This is the culture of DYFI. People are witnessing and will give them a befitting reply," she added.

No complaint was filed by either DYFI or Dastidar, police said.
