CPI(M) waiting for Oct 22 meeting to know PM's mind

CPI(M) politburo member Biman Bose said, i will not comment on what the prime minister said yesterday. whether his attitude is soft or rigid on the nuclear deal will be known on October 22.

KOLKATA: The CPI(M) will analyse the forthcoming Upa-left deliberations on october 22 on the nuclear deal when the 'real intention' of prime minister Manmohan Singh on the 123 agreement would be known, a top party leader has said.

CPI(M) politburo member Biman Bose said, i will not comment on what the prime minister said yesterday. whether his attitude is soft or rigid on the nuclear deal will be known on October 22.

CPI(M) has decided to defer its politburo meeting in new delhi slated for october 18 to take a stand on the nuclear issue and a new date would be announced later, he was today quoted by party mouthpiece 'Ganasakti' as saying.

Singh had yesterday said the failure to carry the deal through would not be the end of life.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi said the left parties, which were opposing the deal, were not being unreasonable and the government was not looking for a confrontation with them.
