AGARTALA: CPI(M) would continue to fight against both Congress and BJP to form a viable alternative at the Centre with its alternative policies, party Politburo member Brinda Karat today said.

"A fight against Congress and BJP would be continued by the CPI(M) to form a viable alternative at the Centre with its alternative policies.

"Recently we had organised a conference of 12 non-BJP non-Congress parties in Delhi in our continuous endeavour for an alternative," Brinda said while addressing a gathering at the Khowai district town, about 45 kms from here.

The tribals are the most neglected and exploited in the Congress and BJP-ruled states in the country with the only exception of the Left-ruled Tripura, she said at the inaugural session of the 20th conference of Tripura Upajati Ganamukti Parishad, the party's tribal wing in the state.

The tribal people in the state got maximum land title (patta) for successful implementation of the Forest Right Act and alternative tribal policies of the Left Front government in the state, Brinda said, adding that the rate of tribal literacy is better in Tripura than many states like Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan.
