CPI(M) sets up trust to run Ganashakti newspaper
KOLKATA: In a significant departure, Bengal CPM leadership has brought a major change in the management of the party mouthpiece "Ganashakti" and set up a trust to run the daily newspaper.

The trust, registered in September last year, is now running the paper and officially, the CPM is no longer the owner.

Earlier, the party was the owner of the daily. Ganashakti is celebrating 50th anniversary this year and the CPM-led government, which was ousted from power in Bengal in 2011, has been virtually forced to put the paper under the trust mainly to ensure existence of the newspaper.

The CPM has also appointed Avik Dutta, a state committee member of the party as the new editor after Narayan Dutta expressed his inability to run the paper due to his poor health.
