KOLKATA: The CPIM politburo and central committee are likely to finalise the dates for the party’s next party congress during its three day session here which started on Friday. The party congress will be held in Kerala next April.

The politburo met here on Friday. The central committee will hold its two-day session from Saturday. The CPIM top brass is likely to identify issues for its draft political and organisational reports which will be placed in the Kerala party congress. Once the draft is ready, it will be referred to all the party units across the country to have their views for modification of the draft. The party congress will discuss the draft reports and finalised those in its Kerala session.

Meanwhile, former West Bengal chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee will attend the three-day session. Bhattacharjee had skipped the party sessions held in Delhi and Hyderabad and now he will attend those since these are being held in his home city.

Bhattacharjee did not attend the CPIM politburo and central committee meetings held in Delhi and Hyderabad after the CPIM’s defeat in the assembly elections in West Bengal. Former West Bengal industry minister Nirupam Sen is also attending the session.
