CPI(M) expels 572 cadres, loses 8000 members in Tripura
CPI(M) has expelled 572 members and its 8000 cadres have not renewed their membership during the past three years in Tripura, Bijan Dhar today.
"The 572 party members have been expelled for violating party discipline," Dhar said, but declined to give reasons for non-renewal of party membership of 8000 workers.
He, however, claimed that 30,000 people belonging to Congress with 10 MLAs and Indigenous Nationalist Party of Tripura (INPT) having one legislator in the 60-member assembly have joined CPI(M) during the period.
The party's weaknesses in the state will be discussed during its four-day state conference beginning here from January 29, he said.
The party General Secretary, Prakash Karat will attend the conference hosted by Chief Minister Manik Sarkar who has been ruling the state since 1998.
