CPI(M) asks Tamil Nadu govt to probe modalities adopted for approval of highrise buildings
PUDUCHERRY: CPI(M) today urged the government to order an elaborate inquiry into the modalities adopted in sanctioning approval to various high rise commercial complexes and residential buildings to ascertain the safety aspect of these buildings.

Secretary of the local unit of the party R Rajangam said in a release here that the cracks seen in a five-storied under-construction aprtment in neighbouring Pakkamodayanpet had exposed various weaknesses in the functioning of the official machinery and also negligence on the part of the builders to adhere to the design and blueprint approved for the structure.

Although the government had initiated steps in the wake of the insecurity emerging from the weak structure a detailed probe should be conducted in respect of all the buildings that had come up in various centres in Puducherry.
