CPI today demanded apology from BJP for "having had elected" Vijay Mallya to Rajya Sabha and asked if Prime Minister Narendra Modi will react over the episode.

"BJP should apologise to the nation for having had elected Vijay Mallya to Rajya Sabha with its excess votes along with Venkaiah Naidu as their candidate from Karnataka," said CPI general secretary S Sudhakar Reddy in his facebook post.
He accused Mallya of influencing banks in his capacity of a Parliamentarian to take loans and "cheat" the country to the tune of Rs 9,000 crores.
The Left leader also alleged that Mallya "was allowed to go" to London where the latter is staying currently.
"Will the Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi Jee react?" Reddy questioned.
Mallya's resigned from Rajya Sabha on May 4 which was accepted by Chairman Hamid Ansari.
