MALAPPURAM (KERALA): The "design" of CPI(M) to play communal card and take advantage of it will not work in Kerala, Indian Union Muslim League leader and Kerala Industries Minister P K Kunhalikutty today said.

Speaking to reporters here, Kunhalikutty said IUML's secularism was recognised by people as was witnessed during the Marad and Babri Masjid issues.

He said his party was in the UDF because of its secular credentials and also because of its anti-extremist approach.

There is no place for extremism and communalism in muslim league, Kunhalikutty said.
