CPI favours continuation of talks with Pakistan despite LoC attacks

The party has already made its stand clear and the latest attacks were aimed at stalling the process of talks, he said.

BHUBANESWAR: Favouring continuation of talks with Islamabad despite "provocative" attacks by its army, CPI today said the government must be prepared at the same time to defend the borders and rebuff any aggressive postures.

"We are of the view that talks must go on with Pakistan. The government should continue discussion despite attacks on Indian posts by Pakistan Army ... Nobody wants war," veteran CPI leader A B Bardhan told reporters here.

The party has already made its stand clear and the latest attacks were aimed at stalling the process of talks, he said.

However, the government must remain fully prepared to safeguard the country's borders and rebuff any aggressive postures and incursion attempts, the veteran Communist leader added.
