Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria on Sunday called for renewed national efforts to preserve cows, lauding Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his commitment to "crush political corruption underfoot."

At a ceremony marking the foundation-laying of the Tulsi Gaushala in Shambhupura village, Bhilwara district, Kataria highlighted the growing disregard for cows, attributing it to deliberate campaigns of disrespect.

"If cows are not preserved, agriculture in the country will vanish. Conspiracies have led to disrespect for cows, distancing people from them,” he said.

He also lamented the absence of cow-related teachings in school curricula, which he believes is contributing to the decline of reverence towards these animals.

“In earlier times, mothers stayed healthy by tending to cows, who possess a magnetic power that can ward off germs from our bodies. It is unfortunate that cows have been misrepresented and not included in educational curricula, leading to their neglect,” Kataria remarked, according to TOI.

He further said that the world would eventually come to recognise the vital role cows play, and this recognition would result in their protection in every household.

Among the dignitaries attending the ceremony were RSS national executive member Suresh Chandra, cow rearing minister Zoraram Kumawat, MP Damodar Agarwal, and Shahpura MLA Dr. Lalaram Bairwa.

Kataria further noted that the Tulsi Gaushala could become a model for future cow conservation efforts and urged government bodies to focus on research related to cow welfare.

Moreover, in his address, Kataria also praised PM Modi’s leadership, particularly his efforts to eliminate corruption.

He stressed the significance of the legal measures against cow slaughter and credited the financial backing provided to cow shelters during the tenure of former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje.

Kataria drew parallels with historical figures like Shivaji and Rana Pratap, suggesting that their successes were guided by divine intervention during critical moments in history.

"Historical figures like Shivaji and Rana Pratap faced challenges but succeeded with divine support. Divine intervention always guided the country during times of crisis,” he said.
