The Assam government has told the police to file a criminal case against landlords asking doctors and paramedic staff fighting the COVIC-19 outbreak to vacate their apartments.

“We have asked the police to file a criminal case against such apartment and house owners who are asking doctors and paramedical staffs to vacate,” health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
He said Assam is readying a massive quarantine facility at a sports complex to accommodate people stuck at the Assam-West Bengal border.“A large quarantine centre will be established at the Sarusojai Sports Complex, Guwahati, with a capacity for about 700 people,” he said. “Along the Assam-West Bengal border at Srirampur, we have about 700 people stranded.
We will arrange for buses to bring them to this quarantine facility in Guwahati. I have visited the site to take stock of the preparedness and the facility. It shall be ready in a week's time.”
