Covid-19 cases in Tamil Nadu drop below 2000 mark

The state has consistently been showing a decline in cases, providing a lot of relief as it has been among the worst-affected in the country.

As many as 2572 people were discharged on Friday, taking the total discharges to 725,258.
The number of new Covid-19 cases declined further on Friday, dipping below the 2000 mark, for the first time in months.

This takes the total tally of cases to 754,460, the State media bulletin confirmed.

The state has consistently been showing a decline in cases, providing a lot of relief as it has been among the worst-affected in the country.


The number of deaths in the State too went down sharply from 25 on Thursday to 14 on Friday. The death toll in the state stood at 11,454.

Chennai's cases went down further from 565 on Thursday to 512 on Friday.

As many as 2572 people were discharged on Friday, taking the total discharges to 725,258.

Testing, however, went down marginally from 76,574 people on Friday to 72,629 people being tested for the infection on Friday.
