Covid-19 cases in Tamil Nadu dip below 1500 mark

Chennai: The number of new Covid-19 cases in Tamil Nadu has dipped below the 1500 mark with 1464 people testing positive for the infection on Thursday. This takes the total tally of cases to 776,174 , the State media bulletin confirmed. Tamil Nadu has been showing a steady decline in cases in the last few months, providing a lot of relief as it has been among the worst-affected in the country.

The number of deaths in the State went down to 14 on Thursday, taking the death toll in the State to 11,669. Chennai's cases were under the 400 mark on Thursday with 396 people testing positive for the infection. As many as 1797 people were discharged on Thursday, taking the total discharges to 753,332. Testing, however, went down to 60,365 people. The State touched record levels of testing when over 93,000 people were tested on a single day in October.
