COVID-19: Andhra Pradesh reports 9,597 new Covid cases, crosses 2.54 lakh-mark

Andhra Pradesh on Wedesday reported 9,597 new Covid positive cases, taking the total to 2,54,146 cases. This comes after the state recording over 10,000 new Covid cases a day for five consecutive days last week and three consecutive days in the previous week.

AP suffered 93 deaths during the last 24 hours, which takes the total death toll to 2,296 so far.

Andhra reported 6,676 recoveries over the last 24 hours to take the total recovered so far to 1,61,425 persons while it saw 90,425 active cases by Wednesday.


AP tested 57,148 samples over the last 24 hours, which takes the total to 26,49,767 tests thus far, the fourth-highest in India after Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra.

Over the past 24 hours, East Godavari (1,332) and Chittoor (1,235) reported new cases in four-digits, while the rest 11 districts of AP recorded new Covid positive cases in three-digits.

Andhra Pradesh has reported 49,621 tests per million population as against the national average of 18,757 tests. The state has surpassed the national positivity rate at 9.59% on Wednesday as against the national average of 8.95%.

The state recorded a recovery rate of 63.52% as against the national average of 70.38%, while reporting a mortality rate of 0.90% against the national average of 1.98%.
