Court summons DMK chief Karunanidhi in defamation case

A local court today ordered issue of summons to DMK chief M Karunanidhi and S Selvam, printer, publisher and editor of party mouthpiece 'Murasoli,' in connection with a defamation case filed against them by the Tamil Nadu government.

CHENNAI: A local court today ordered issue of summons to DMK chief M Karunanidhi and S Selvam, printer, publisher and editor of party mouthpiece 'Murasoli,' in connection with a defamation case filed against them by the Tamil Nadu government.

Principal Sessions Judge P Kalaiarasan directed Selvam and Karunanidhi to appear before the court on December 18.

City Public Prosecutor had filed a defamation suit on behalf of Minister S Gokula Indira against Karunanidhi for allegedly making derogatory comment on the functioning of state ministers, and against Selvam for publishing it in Murasoli's August 23rd edition.
