HYDERABAD: A local court today directed police to investigate a complaint filed by a city-based businessman against Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi for allegedly making "hate speech" against a particular community.

Based on the complaint filed by businessman S Venkatesh Goud, the court of the 4th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate directed the Osmania University Police to investigate the complaint under section 156 (3) of CrPc and file a report before it on January 28.

Goud had filed a complaint before the court alleging that the Chandrayangutta legislator had given "highly provocative and derogatory" speech against majority community, which was telecast on a local television channel on December 8 and 9.

The court in its order observed that all the allegations as mentioned in the complaint and reportedly recorded on a CD need to be thoroughly investigated.
