NEW DELHI: The Ministry of External Affairs will commence a country-wide ' Passport Seva Camp' programme from October 18, with an aim to provide services to people located far away from Passport Seva Kendras (PSKs).

Currently citizens have the facility to apply online for passports, make payment and take an appointment for personal visit to the concerned PSK to give photographs and biometrics in connection with the passport applications. "The modality for acceptance of passport applications at the camps would be the same as that in the PSKs," said the press release.

MEA has advised applicants to carry two photographs with light background. The passport officials will be deputed at the camps to check the documents and guide the applicants. More information about the camps is available on the Passport portal passportindia.gov.in.

The camps are planned at locations including Agra, Allahabad, Cuddalore, Daman, Indore, Jamshedpur, Karwar, Karimnagar, Lakshadweep, Siliguri and Warangal for the month of October. "Based on the feedback, the Ministry of External Affairs intends to hold such camps periodically across the country in the coming months," said the release.
