Country has got new direction under Pranab Mukherjee: Narendra Modi

NEW DELHI: In a sign of growing bonhomie between the two senior leaders, PM Narendra Modi on Friday said the country had got new direction and inspiration under President Pranab Mukherjee and he had been personally guided by him.
Modi recently had a lunch meeting with Mukherjee and was informed about the conservation efforts at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Speaking at a book release function to mark the second anniversary of Mukherjee's presidency, Modi said the country had got new direction and inspiration from the guidance of Mukherjee as President. Comparing the President to the head of a family, the PM added that he too had personally been guided by the President after assuming office.
The PM congratulated the authors of two books - 'Indradhanush' and 'Winged Wonders of Rashtrapati Bhavan' saying their efforts were not mere compilations but creations borne out of personal experiences.
The PM also referred to the Rashtrapati Bhavan Museum, which was dedicated to the nation by the President in his presence, saying," India very often is not a history-conscious society, and this museum is an effort to preserve a part of our unique heritage... only a society which is conscious of history has the potential to create history."
