PANAJI: The counting for October 31 Mormugao constituency Lok Sabha bypoll began here on Saturday at 0800 hours.
Congress and BJP are in straight fight with each other for the seat in South Goa district.
The seat fell vacant after the then Congress MP Churchill Alemao resigned on May 8 this year to join the state politics.
Congress has fielded Frasisco Sardinha against BJP's Wilfred Mesquita. Two Independents - Hamza Khan and Jawahar Dias are also in fray.
