Costly plots allotted to Shivraj Singh Chouhan's relatives at cheap rates: RTI
Shivraj Singh Chouhan has joined the list of leaders who allegedly helped relatives and friends corner prime real estate in areas under their control.

Yogesh Purswani, a resident of Bhopal, said that an application filed by him under the Right to Information Act revealed that costly plots in the state capital were allotted to relatives and friends of the chief minister at dirt cheap rates. “People like us had to shell out Rs 2,000 per sq ft for the land at Rohit Nagar Phase 1 in Bhopal. But the same land was allotted to the chief minister’s relatives at Rs 100 per sq ft,” Purswani told ET.
According to Purswani, among those from Chouhan’s extended family who benefited from the allotments include Rohit Chouhan and his wife Rashmi, chief minister’s sister-in-law Anita Chouhan, his cousin Praduman Chouhan and relatives Brijesh Chouhan, Dharmendra Chauhan, Seema Chauhan, Mamata Chauhan and Balwant Chauhan.
Purswani, who had been waging a legal battle for a 2,100 sq ft plot that was allotted at Rohit Nagar in 1996, said the allotments were made after denying possession certificates to those who had already paid several instalments for the land. “The allotments for Chouhan’s relatives were made after 2006,” said Purswani.
