Corp seals former PM's son's restaurant

A fast food outlet in a multiplex owned by former Prime Minister V P Singh's son, which was sealed by the municipal corporation here for allegedly flouting parking rules, was ordered to be reopened by the Allahabad High Court on Friday.

ALLAHABAD: A fast food outlet in a multiplex owned by former Prime Minister V P Singh's son, which was sealed by the municipal corporation here for allegedly flouting parking rules, was ordered to be reopened by the Allahabad High Court on Friday.

The corporation authorities last evening sealed a McDonald's outlet, the only operational establishment in the complex, without "assigning any valid reason", Ajey Singh, who owns 'Atlantis Multiplex, told a press conference.

Singh, who arrived in the city today, said he came to know through his employees about the "high-handedness" of the Nagar Nigam officials, who claimed they had the District Magistrate's order to seal the establishment.

They said the fast food outlet had flouted parking rules which Singh denied and alleged that he had been slapped a fine of Rs two lakh.

Singh said he filed a writ in the High Court undertaking that vehicles of visitors of McDonald's would be allowed in the multiplex parking lot.

Taking cognizance of his petition, a Division Bench of Justices Sunil Ambawani and Anjani Kumar directed the Allahabad Developement Authority and the Nagar Nigam to open the restaurant.
