Coronavirus outbreak: UP tracing 157 people in 18 districts

At least 120 out of the 157 people identified from Uttar Pradesh who attended the religious congregation organised earlier in March have not returned to their hometowns in UP and are being quarantined in Delhi.

The state authorities are tracing at least 157 people from 18 districts of Uttar Pradesh who had attended the Tablighi Jamaat congregation.
Lucknow: The state authorities are tracing at least 157 people from 18 districts of Uttar Pradesh who had attended the Tablighi Jamaat congregation. Most of these people are still in Delhi, officials said. However, local searches conducted in various districts have brought to light that at least 80 more people had attended the congregation.

At least 120 out of the 157 people identified from Uttar Pradesh who attended the religious congregation organised earlier in March have not returned to their hometowns in UP and are being quarantined in Delhi. Some others are yet to be tracked, UP police officials said on Monday.

At the same time, local searches conducted by police of different districts have unearthed more such cases. In Bijnor, an FIR was lodged against five maulvis of a mosque for harbouring eight Indonesian nationals without informing the administration, DSP Archana Singh said.
