Cops release sketches of miscreants

MUMBAI: Police have flashed the sketches of the three people involved in the alleged desecration of the bust of Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray’s wife Meenatai’s at Dadar on Sunday, the city police commissioner AN Roy said here on Monday.

The sketches were made based on the information gathered from people residing near the area, Mr Roy told mediapersons at Vidhan Bhavan. According to him the law and order situation in the city is under control. “The police will soon arrest the culprits,” he said.

Even as the police chief promised action, the Shiv Sena and BJP legislators staged noisy protests on the steps of the state assembly building condemning the incident. They also raised slogans against Samajwadi Party leader Abu Asim Azmi for his alleged role in the Bhiwandi riots.
