Cop tipped off Vikas Dubey about raid, says aide

LUCKNOW: An aide of Vikas Dubey, the main accused in the killing of eight policemen in Kanpur on Friday, has revealed that a local policeman had tipped off the gangster about the raid.

Dubey’s accomplice, Daya Shankar Agnihotri, was arrested in Kalyanpur on Saturday night even as the history-sheeter remained at large for more than 50 hours after the incident took place.

Based on the aide’s information, 115 police personnel of the Chaubeypur police station in Kanpur have come under scrutiny with their call records being examined. Inspector General (IG), Kanpur, Mohit Agarwal told ET that whoever is found guilty of helping Dubey will be charged with murder.


Agnihotri said Dubey had received a call from the local police department before the raid, following which he mobilised around 30 of his men who carried out the attack on the police personnel.
