Convicted Sidhu's resignation accepted

BJP MP Navjot Singh Sidhu's resignation as a Lok Sabha MP was on Monday accepted by Speaker Somnath Chatterjee.

NEW DELHI: BJP MP Navjot Singh Sidhu's resignation as a Lok Sabha MP was on Monday accepted by Speaker Somnath Chatterjee.

Sidhu, convicted in an 18-year-old road rage case, gave a fresh one line resignation letter on December two after his first one was not accepted by the Speaker who said it was not submitted in the proper format.

The Speaker informed the House that he was accepting Sidhu's resignation with effect from Monday.
