Conversion a social issue: Yogi Adityanath

BALLIA: BJP MP Yogi Aditynath, who has justified religious conversions, today said that it is a social issue and should not be associated with the Narendra Modi government.

" Conversion is a social issue and it has no association with the Modi government," Adityanath said while talking to reporters here.

He said if the BJP government wants to frame an anti-conversion law, why are the opposition parties not supporting it.

The Gorakhpur MP further said that at several places Hindus were being converted, but the opposition leaders are not commenting on that.

He had earlier justified conversions saying that "it had been happening for ages". However, the MP had also batted for a strong anti-conversion law in Uttar Pradesh on the lines of legislation adopted by several states.
