GHAZIABAD: Teachers employed on a contractual basis in government schools protested outside Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's Kausambi residence this morning demanding permanent employment.

They were joined by contractual employees of Delhi Tourism department, also demanding permanent employment.

Around 150 contractual teachers working in MCD and Delhi government schools raised slogans outside Kejriwal's house like "Finish contractual employment in Delhi", "Make us permanent".

"Nearly 12,000 teachers are working in MCD and Delhi government schools on contractual basis. Such teachers have been teaching in schools for more than 10 years, but are not being made permanent," Sumit Bhardwaj, a teacher, said.

"Despite teaching for several years, we don't know when we could lose our jobs," Mohammad Irshad, another teacher, said.

The tourism department's contractual employees also demanded that they be offered permanent posting.
