Congress workers reach Delhi for Rajiv's birth anniversary

The road journey has passed through Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarata, Rajasthan and Haryana.

NEW DELHI: A group of Congress workers, mostly from Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, arrived here on Monday on the last leg of the annual Rajiv Gandhi Sadbhavana Yatra ahead of the former prime minister's 69th birth anniversary tomorrow.

The exercise, which begins from Sripermbadur where the former prime minister was assassinated in 1991, will end with a ceremony at Veer Bhumi, a memorial to Gandhi.

The workers led by the Yatra president SS Prakasam will hand over a torch to Congress President Sonia Gandhi.

"We give a message for national harmony and integration and against terrorism," Prakasam said.

The road journey has passed through Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarata, Rajasthan and Haryana.
