Scores of Congress workers, including DPCC chief spokesperson Mukesh Sharma and other senior leaders, were protesting against hike in rail fair near Palam police post. During their protest, some of Congressmen forcefully entered Palam Railway Station, blocked railway tracks and stopped a Delhi-Moradabad train for around 30 minutes.

"Congress workers will not sit silent till hike in rail fare is rolled back. Lakhs of people belonging to different states will get affected due to this hike as those living in Delhi go to their native place every week," said DPCC chief spokesperson Mukesh Sharma.

Before blocking railway track at Palam Railways station, Congress workers also took out a march against the hike. Sharma claimed that police resorted to mild lathicharge to evacuate the station following which the protest was called off.
