MOGA: Punjab Congress workers today protested against the alleged inaction of police in a case of "murderous attack" on a party worker and blocked road traffic at Baghapurana in the district for around two hours.

"The blockade lasted for about two hours and traffic was disrupted from Baghapurana to Kotkapura, Muktsar, Mudki, Faridkot and Ferozepur," police sources said.

The Congress workers led by Moga Congress committee president Darshan Singh Brar were protesting against police's alleged inaction in arresting those responsible for "murderous attack" on Roop Singh, a party worker, who was seriously injured after some armed persons attacked him on May 6, they said.

Police had registered a case against unidentified persons on the complaint of Roop Singh's wife Baldev Kaur, but have failed to make any arrests in the case so far.

The attack on Roop Singh was the result of clashes between Akali and Congress workers on polling day on April 30, alleged Brar.

Brar asked the police to take immediate action against those behind the attack failing which Congress workers will stage state level protests.
