INDORE: Congress workers today alleged that private security guards of yoga guru Ramdev beat them up when they were trying to wave black flags at his convoy on MG Road here.

Madhya Pradesh Congress spokesman Narendra Saluja told reporters that his party workers were attacked even as police cane-charged them.

A Congress worker was injured in the incident and was admitted in state-run M Y Hospital, he said.

Congress has submitted a written complaint to police demanding registration of a case under relevant sections of IPC against the security guards concerned.

Meanwhile, Police said Congress workers were staging a violent protest despite the model code of conduct in force ahead of the November 25 Assembly elections.

When Congress workers carrying black flags ran towards Ramdev's motorcade, they were stopped by police resulting in a clash, police said.
