The grand old party also warned of "strict disciplinary action" if any violation of this advisory is made.

The warning came from the high command after Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Thursday said that he will not contest the Congress president elections. "I met Rahul Gandhi in Kochi & requested him to fight in the polls (for Congress President). When he didn't accept, I said I'll contest but now with that incident, I've decided not to contest the elections," Gehlot said as he pulled from the party presidential race.

Gehlot reached the national capital on Wednesday night for a meeting with Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi. "Have always been a disciplined soldier of Congress," Gehlot said after the meeting.

" I had a conversation with Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi. Whatever happened two days ago shocked us. It gave a message that all of it happened as I wanted to be CM. I apologised to her," he said.
