Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi to address a rally in Dehradun on December 23

NEW DELHI: Congress Party’s vice president Rahul Gandhi will address a rally in Dehradun on December 23. Assembly polls in Uttarakhand are scheduled to be held early next year.

Addressing a press conference in Dehradun, Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee’ (UPCC) president Kishore Upadhyay gave information about Rahul’s plan to visit Dehradun. According to a press release, UPCC has got more than 1000 applications from party ticket aspirants for contesting elections from state’s different seats. Uttarakhand has 70 seats in its state assembly.

A meeting of the party’s “Pradesh Chunav Samiti” (state election committee) will be held on December 18 at party’s state office in Dehradun. AICC General Secretary Ambika Soni, who is in-charge of Uttarakhand Congress unit, will also attend the meeting. Congress party’s few senior members are likely to be accommodated in the state election committee.
