Congress VC Rahul Gandhi adopts village, then slams MP gram yojana
AMETHI: Congress vice - president and Amethi MP Rahul Gandhi attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday for his “failed“ scheme to develop all villages. On a visit to Jagdishpur village of his constituency , he said, “Mera kaam sabke vikas ka hai, kisi ek gaon ka nahin. (My duty is to ensure development for everyone, not just one village.)“ Rahul, on his first visit to Jagdishpur after adopting it under the Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY) also criticized the scheme for being shortsighted. “Meri constituency mein 700 se zyada gaon hain. Ek gaon ko model banana se Hindustan ke 6.5 lakh gaon nahi badalne waale. (My constituency has more than 750 villages. Developing one village as a model will not change the fate of 6.5 lakh villages in India.) ,“ he added.

Rahul said, “I have been handed a list of 40 demands under SAGY. I would like the DM to explain where funds will come from. This is the first government I have seen that announces a scheme without giving any clarity on its implementation.“

MPs are expected to use Rs 5 crore allotted to them under the MPLAD scheme, to develop a village.
