Congress using disgruntled cops to target Modi: BJP
NEW DELHI: BJP on Sunday reacted angrily to the “absurd’’ charges made by IAS officer Pradeep Sharma against Gujarat CM Narendra Modi in the snooping case involving a woman architect, with senior leader Arun Jaitley alleging that Sharma was acting at the behest of Congress. Sharma has approached the SCdemanding a CBI probe. “They are back to their old game of detecting a disgruntled police officer or a civil servant and getting him to make absurd charges,” Jaitley said.

“This didn’t work when Sanjeev Bhatt (a suspended IPS officer who is an important witness against Modi in the 2002 riots case) did it. It won’t work with the Congress party’s newly discovered suspended civil servant doing it,” he said on his Facebook page.

Congress has demanded Modi’s resignation as Gujarat CM and sought a probe by a sitting SC judge into the issue. Jaitley said Congress was on the back foot as far as the leadership battle was concerned as “Rahul Gandhi is no match” for Modi. Senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad on Sunday said Congress has no business asking for a probe in the snooping case since the woman had not lodged any complaint.
