PUDUCHERRY: Expressing serious concern over the hurling of a crude bomb on the premises of a police station in Mudaliarpet near here last night by unidentified persons, opposition Congress today urged the Union Home Ministry to take up immediate steps to ensure law and order in Puducherry.

Party Puducherrry unit spokesman A V Veeraraghavan said in a release today said that it was very serious that a police station had been targeted by miscreants in the poll bound Puducherry.

Veeraraghavan has sought posting of armed guards at the entrances of all police stations and installation of closed circuit surveillance camera so that the trouble makers could be identified and follow up action can be taken.

He also sought immediate deployment of central para military forces to Puducherry to maintain law and order in Puducherry which is going to polls on May 16.

An unidentified two member gang of persons coming on a motor cycle had hurled a crude bomb on the premises of the police station in Mudaliarpet causing panic.

There was however no casualty and police have intensified investigation to trace the accused after registering cases.
