The Congress top brass has not accepted Navjot Singh Sidhu’s resignation, ANI quoted sources in the party as saying.

A tweet by the news agency said the Congress leadership has asked the state party unit to resolve the matter themselves.

Navjot Singh Sidhu resigned as the chief of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee, earlier today, plunging the party into a fresh crisis just months ahead of the assembly elections in the state.


Just months ago, Sidhu was appointed as the chief of the Punjab unit of the Congress party. After which there was a turmoil causing the then Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh to resign.
