Congress to create better industrial climate in Bengal: WBPCC

Accusing Mamata Banerjee government of failing to bring in industry and frame a new land policy, West Bengal Congress today announced to launch a movement to create better industrial environment in the state.

KOKATA: Accusing Mamata Banerjee government of failing to bring in industry and frame a new land policy, West Bengal Congress today announced to launch a movement to create better industrial environment in the state.

"As a responsible political party we can't allow damage to the state's industrial climate. We must cooperate in setting up new industries by removing fear from the mind of investors," WBPCC President Pradip Bhattacharya said.

"Our movement will start with our march to Haldia on November 20, where we'll tell people how the industrial climate is being eroded in the port township under the patronage of ruling political party," he said.

"Concerned over the law and order situation and for want of adequate security, many industries are leaving the state, as it happened during the Left Front rule. Nobody is now interested in making investment. We must change the idea transforming it into a positive manner," he said.

Describing the state government "a government devoid of any direction and principle", Bhattacharya said that the chief minister's speeches and activities were incoherent and failed to reflect any vision to construct Bengal.

"The ruling party is also trying to create a split in the Congress, but this in turn is set to become a boomerang," Bhattacharya said.

"The intention of TC supremo to launch a movement like Jaiprakash Narayan in 1977 is absolutely a false political approach," he said.

"Those in power don't know how to exercise it. We are for greater movement after Chhat festival and Muharram," he said.

On December 8, Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh would be here to visit the Lalgarh area in West Midnapore district to assess the pace of development with the help of central fund, he said.
