Congress threatens legal action against BJP for allegations against Arunachal CM

ITANAGAR: The Congress Tuesday threatened legal actions against the BJP for levelling allegations against Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki.

Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee Vice President Padi Hinda, in a statement, said when the opposition BJP was exhausted of its energy to face the ruling Congress, it was levelling allegation "one after another."

"The BJP should refrain from making such wild allegations or else the APCC would be forced to knock the door of judiciary to set the record straight," he said.

BJP state unit president Tai Tagak had yesterday lodged a complaint with the Election Commission against the Chief Minister, charging him with misuse of power and government machinery for the benefit of the Congress in violation of the Model Code of Conduct and demanded a CBI probe into the alleged malpractices.

The BJP alleged the chief minister of indulging in a talk with officers and senior party leaders for clinching a deal and distributing money amounting to Rs 25 crore to the BJP candidates to withdraw from the fray for April 9 polls.

"Neither the Chief Minister's motorcade nor the chopper carrying him is exempted from being checked by the election authorities," the APCC statement said.
