PHULBANI: Congress today alleged BJP as "communal" and BJD as "corrupt".

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his partymen are experts in spreading animosity among communities. They have shown the seeds of communalism in the country," AICC general secretary in-charge of Odisha B K Hariprasad alleged here while campaigning for the Congress candidate for the October 15 Kandhamal Lok Sabha seat by-poll.

He criticised the BJD government in the state. "The entire government is indulged in the corrupt practice and involved in the multi-crore mining scam," Hariprasad alleged saying that the ruling party leaders have embezzled bulk of the Rs 30,000 crore from 30 lakh investors through ponzi schemes.

OPCC president Jaydev Jena said Congress candidate Abhimanyu Behera is the "son of the soil", while the BJD nominee Pratyusha Rajeswari Singh is a "foreigner" who does not speak or understand Odia language.

The Congress leaders in their speeches alleged that the BJD government had been involved in a series of scams like the ponzi scheme, coal, land and mining.

"This is high time, the people should exercise their power and teach the Patnaik government a lesson," Hariprasad said.
