Congress targeting me for leaving party: Jagan

YSR Congress president Jaganmohan Reddy has alleged that Congress was targeting him for leaving it by unleashing various probe agencies on him.

NEW DELHI: YSR Congress president Jaganmohan Reddy has alleged that Congress was targeting him for leaving it by unleashing various probe agencies on him. He accused the party of maligning his late father YS Rajasekhara Reddy. Speaking to mediapersons in Hyderabad , Jagan Reddy said he would move the Supreme Court against a recent Andhra Pradesh High Court order directing a CBI probe into his alleged illegal assets. He denied allegations that he had misused power to amass huge wealth when his father was the chief minister.

Dismissing Reddy's accusation of witch-hunting , Law Minister Salman Khurshid said, “Whatever has happened has happened on court’s orders, we have done nothing. Now, we cannot face contempt of court.” Khurshid said the SC had ensured that the operation of the CBI was largely autonomous. “Therefore, CBI gets the authority from court orders and the court supervises what the agency does. So we don’t come into the picture.”

Reddy denied the allegations that investments into his firms were made as a quid pro quo arrangement in return for favours that his father had shown to the investors. He accused Congress of using I-T and other agencies to target him after he quit the party in November last year and later through a minister who filed a court case against him.
