Congress takes up Mukti Yatra against Saradha chit fund scam

The Mukti Yatra, which started on December 1 from West Midnapore district, will culminate here on December 13.

KOLKATA: With an eye on the coming general elections, Congress has kicked off a 225-km long Mukti Yatra in West Bengal to make people aware about the Saradha group ponzi scam and "anti-people" polices of the Trinamool regime.

"Under the directions of Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi, we have started Mukti Yatra from West Midnapore to sensitise people about the anti-people policies of the state government and the Saradha chit fund scam," state Congress leader Manas Bhuniya told PTI.

The Mukti Yatra, which started on December 1 from West Midnapore district, will culminate here on December 13.

"During this yatra, we will also inform the masses about the pro-people policies of the Centre, especially the Food Security Act," Bhuniya said.

After the recent exodus of Congress leaders to the ruling Trinamool Congress in West Bengal, Rahul Gandhi had yesterday asked state Congress president Pradip Bhattacharya to strengthen the party from the grass roots ahead of the next general elections.
