The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) on Tuesday suspended former Congress Minister and party MLA from Shivajinagar R.Roshan Baig (67) on charges of anti-party activities.

The KPCC announced the suspension on the basis of findings of an inquiry it conducted following Baig's public statements against senior leaders. The party, in a press release, said its recommendation had been approved by the AICC.

Two days before the Lok Sabha results, he had lashed out at former chief minister Siddaramaiah and KPCC president Dinesh Gundurao for the likely “flop show” in the Lok Sabha polls. He called AICC general secretary KC Venugopal a “buffoon”. “I feel very sorry for my leader Rahul Gandhiji,” he had said.

Baig has not been accessible to the media and has switched off his mobile phone after reports emerged that he had sought help from Revenue Minister R.V.Deshpande for Mohammad Mansoor Khan, the founder of IMA Group, who is absconding after cheating thousands of investors crores of rupees. The Police have launched a manhunt for him.
