Congress' Abhishek Manu Singhvi tweets a Congress storm, then deletes it

Congress’ Abhishek Manu Singhvi on Tuesday caused a storm in the party when he tweeted what appeared to be a rejoinder to Rahul Gandhi’s ‘jitni abadi utna haq” (the rights of people should be according to the population strength). After his comments went viral, Singhvi deleted the tweet, apparently after the party reached out to him.

“Equality of opportunity is never the same as equality of outcomes. People endorsing #jitni abadi utna haq have to first completely understand the consequences of it. It will eventually culminate into majoritarianism,” Singhvi posted on X. AICC clarified what he said was not the party’s view.

After causing a storm, Singhvi deleted his post. On his part, AICC spokesperson Jairam Ramesh posted: “Dr Singhvi's tweet may be a reflection of his own personal view but in no way does it reflect the position of the Indian National Congress — the essence of which is contained both in the Raipur Declaration on February 26, 2023, and in the CWC Resolution of September 16, 2023.”


Singhvi’s post came on a day when AICC fielded its OBC cell head Ajay Yadav to hail Bihar’s caste survey outcome and pitch for a national caste census.
