Congress should 'honestly' introspect on UPA govt record: BJP

NEW DELHI: Reacting sharply to Congress chief Sonia Gandhi's criticism of the NDA government, BJP today asked her to introspect on what the previous UPA regime had "honestly" done in its 10 years in power.

Listing some of the achievements of the Narendra Modi government at the Centre, BJP national secretary Siddharth Nath Singh said in a statement that an SIT was set up on black money while a new initiative was stared to bring about transparency in the sharing of individual banking informations under G20 negotiations.

"In Haryana, land acquisition became a scam... It would be better if Congress and Soniaji introspected on what they have honestly done in their 3,650 days in power for India," Singh added.

At a rally in Haryana, Gandhi had questioned as to what the NDA government had done so far to realise the prime minister's commitment about bringing back black money stashed away abroad by Indians.

"What happened to their (NDA government's) promise of getting back the black money from abroad within 100 days of coming to power. Have any steps been taken in this regard? Absolutely not," Gandhi said in a blistering attack on Modi at a rally in Haryana today, hours after the prime minister targeted Congress over alleged land scams and "anti-farmer" policies.
