JAMMU: After suffering a drubbing in the recent Assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir, Congress has set up two panels for its membership drive in a bid to lift the moral of the party.

"Prof Saifuddin Soz MP, Former Union Minister & President J&K Pradesh Congress Committee has constituted following two committees for Jammu and Kashmir provinces", a Congress Spokesman said today.

These committees will ensure that the membership drive is completed properly through the state by the end of February 2015, he said.

A 12-member committee headed by former Tourism Minister Gulam Ahmed Mir has been announced for Kashmir Valley, while the second 11-member panel headed by former Minister Sham Lal Sharma will undertake the drive in Jammu region.

The two committees will ensure that membership has been completed properly and the same process will be concluded within the stipulated time, spokesman said.
